CSIR Innovation Award for School Children (CIASC)

CSIR launched Diamond Jubilee Invention Award for School Children on April 26, the World Intellectual Property Day, in 2002, with the objective to foster scientific temperament, creativity and innovative spirit amongst school children as well as create awareness about IPR (Intellectual Property Rights). The competition was renamed CSIR Innovation Award for School Children in 2011. CSIR invites students to send their innovation proposals in English/Hindi (not more than 5000 words), along with an authentication letter from their school principal and requisite details for the competition. The innovation submitted should be novel and utilitarian. It should be a new concept or design or a solution to an existing problem or completely a new method/device/utility. There are 15 prizes in all, with the winner getting a Certificate, Trophy and Cash Award of Rs.1 Lakh for 1st Prize (One); Rs.50000 each for two 2nd Prizes; Rs.30000 each for three 3rd Prizes; Rs.20000 each for four 4th Prizes and Rs.10000 each for five 5th Position Prizes, respectively. Students below 18 yrs of age as on 1st January are eligible to apply. Only one entry can be made by a student or a group of students creating an invention together.
