Details
Executive Summary : | Genetic enhancement for yield and its component traits in wheat; incorporation of multiple disease and insect resistance in wheat with focus on stripe rust, Karnal bunt and aphids; improving terminal heat tolerance and overall grain quality particularly micronutrient content; identification of genotypes with high lodging tolerance; evaluation and validation wheat genotypes under different tillage interactions; multi-location evaluation for identifying stable genotypes |
Co-PI: | Dr. Vinod Tiwari, Scientist, Indian Institute of Wheat and Barley Research (IIWBR), Karnal, Dr. LokenDr.a Kumar, Scientist, Indian Institute of Wheat and Barley Research (IIWBR), Karnal, Dr. Pradeep Sharma, Scientist, Indian Institute of Wheat and Barley Research (IIWBR), Karnal, and others |
Achievements : | DBW 14 was first indigenously developed variety through shuttle breeding approach and is suitable for rice-wheat system of eastern India; DBW 16 has better resistance against yellow and brown rusts and leaf blight along with yield superiority; CBW 38 has yield advantage over all the checks and candidate varieties and possesses APR to yellow rust race 78S84; DPW621-50 has better yield advantage and possesses APR to yellow rust; DBW 90 has better resistance against yellow and brown rusts and leaf blight; WB2 possesses high Zn & Fe content in grain and has resistant against prevalent yellow rust pathotypes |
