Executive Summary :

Climate variability in the Himalayan State is causing significant threats, including rising temperatures, erratic rainfall, and increasing intensities of extreme events. The state, being a natural resource-rich and biodiversity hotspot, is at risk of losing endemic flora and its economy. The Meghalaya Climate Change Centre (MCCC) was established under the National Mission for Sustaining the Himalayan Ecosystem (NMSHE) to address climate change issues and enhance capacity. The MCCC has been coordinating climate actions, including knowledge creation, capacity building, training programs, and awareness creation among stakeholders. The 2nd Phase of the program aims to narrow knowledge gaps and extend capacity to ensure the state is better climate-proofed. The focus areas include enhancing sectoral resilience, enhancing resource sustainability, capacitating government departments, sensitizing stakeholders, and devising policy tools for resource safeguarding.
