Executive Summary : | Diabetes Mellitus (DM) prevalence is increasing globally, with India's number expected to rise from 62 million to 100 million by 2030. Peripheral neuropathy is a common complication, affecting 20-25% of diabetics. Diabetic Peripheral Neuropathy (DPN) can cause abnormalities in touch, pressure, and vibration sense. Evaluation of sensitivity is crucial for identifying neuropathies. Reduced sensation by 10gm SWMF is an accepted screening tool, but no affordable device can quantitatively determine sensational loss without patient feedback. |
