Executive Summary : | seed germination is a crucial process in plant survival and growth, involving cellular signals modulated by hormones and external factors. When environmental conditions are unfavorable, abscisic acid (ABA) arrests seedling growth, with ABI5 acting as a downstream regulator. seed genome maintenance and DNA damage response (DDR) are essential for seed germination and early plant development. sOG1, a central regulator of DDR, promotes programmed cell death post-germination in response to DNA damage in seeds. sOG1 helps in successful seedling establishment and minimizes the impact of genome damage accumulated in quiescence on future plant growth. The interaction between ABA signaling and sOG1-mediated genome maintenance mechanisms has not been explored. This study investigates the possible involvement of sOG1 transcription factor in modulating ABA signaling under ABA treatment conditions for seed germination and early seedling development. |
