Brief Description
Description : | The aim of the study is to investigate the mechanism of deflagration-to-detonation
transition in a detonation tube facility in the presence and absence of ignition promoters like ozone.
The factors governing such a transition will be studied for hydrogen-oxygen-diluent and ethyleneoxygen-diluent mixtures where the effect of congestion on this transition will be quantified. The effect
of ignition promoters on the ignition kinetics of a detonation wave structure will be investigated where
relevant length and time scales associated with a ZND detonation structure will be quantified for
hydrogen-oxygen-diluent and ethylene-oxygen-diluent mixtures. It is also proposed to carry out a series of thoughtful and well-planned experiments in a detonation tube to investigate the phenomenon of DDT. The primary goal here is to obtain a deeper understanding of the DDT phenomenon in scramjets and detonation-based rocket engines. Another aim of this work is to study the effect of ignition promoters like ozone on DDT lengths. The fuel sensitization experiments will be carried out in a detonation tube facility to investigate the effects of fuel sensitization on detonation wave structure and DDT lengths. |
