Executive Summary : | Objective: 1) A Tension Split Hopkinson Bar (SHPB) at very low cost.
Output Deliverables
a) The tension SHPB developed will be helpful in generating high strain rate tensile properties of Aircraft Materials like Al 2024 T3 and Windshield materials relevant to Bird Hit applications.
b) The tension SHPB developed will also be useful for studying the damage in tension of the aircraft materials used in Bird Hit, Debris Hit, Tyre impact etc.
2) Augmentation of the Compression Split Hopkinson Bar. Output Deliverables
a) The compression SHPB augmented will be helpful in generating high
strain rate tensile properties of Aircraft Materials like Al 2024 T3 and
Windshield materials relevant to Bird Hit applications.
b) The compression SHPB , when augmented with the momentum trap will also be useful for studying the damage in compression of the aircraft materials used in Bird Hit, Debris Hit, Tyre impact etc.
3) Generation of High strain rate stress-strain curves for materials used in transport aircraft like SARAS and Development of appropriate Material Models for these materials
Output Deliverables 1) This work may lead to possible weight reduction of the structures in
a transport aircraft like SARAS subjected to high velocity impact
loading on Wing and Windshield.
2) This work will lead to better design of crucial structure like the wing
and the windshield. |
