Executive Summary :

Diabetic Retinopathy (DR) is a chronic progressive disease affecting retinal microvessels, affecting about a third of diabetic patients. India has over 60 million people at risk of developing DR, while Belarus has over 350,000 registered patients. Early detection through mass screening is crucial, and biomarkers can help determine the disease's severity. Digital retinal photography is considered the most effective screening method for DR, but its information content depends on the equipment's technical capabilities. Remote screening is crucial for preventing vision loss and preventing the progression of DR. In Belarusian medical institutions, retinal images are analyzed visually by ophthalmologists or using software from a Fundus camera. However, visual inspection is complex and subjective, leading to missed disease stages. In India, automation of diabetic retinal screening is being researched due to a shortage of ophthalmologists. The project aims to develop a system for rapid remote screening of Diabetic Retinopathy using digital retinal images from Fundus cameras. The goal is to develop an integrated system capable of assessing retinal images from various devices and early detection of diabetic retinal disease.
