Executive Summary : | Objective: To reveal transition pathways which indicate consecutive steps to come from an irregular disposal to a resource-oriented wastewater treatment; To develop and assess the management approaches for septage e.g. a combination with separated collected fractions of organic waste like market or kitchen wastes; To design and implement a feasible treatment chain to meet current and future need of socio-ecological improvement in septage management and reuse.
Summary: The project envisages development and assessment of different septage management approaches. Adapted treatment chains will be designed and implemented in a participatory approach and targeted to meet the current and future needs of social and ecological improvement in septage management and reuse. In general, it is intended to use or reuse the residues or their contents to substitute mineral fertilizer, save energy as also provide energy on local level. For this purpose, guidance will be made to illustrate this modification in Indian peri-urban case study areas. The focus is on the design of business models which can promote economic drivers for a better sanitation supply. |
