The alliance between Welcome trust, UK, and Department of Biotechnology (DBT), GOI, aims at promoting biomedical research in India through funding and engagement.The India Alliance offers four Fellowship schemes to basic biomedical scientists, clinicians, public health researchers and veterinarians who wish to pursue academic research in India.

Ramalingaswamy re-entry fellowship

The Ramalingaswamy re-entry fellowship by DBT is meant to get back the precious scientific minds that are born and nurtured in the country but due to several reasons had gone away elsewhere.Hence, the Ramalingaswamy Re-entry Fellowship for such biotechnologists provides them an attractive avenue to pursue R&D in Indian institutions.The applicant should possess a Ph.D., /M.D., or equivalent degree with at least three years of post- doctoral research experience of which last two years should be from overseas laboratory.
