Centres of Excellence

Centre of Nanotechnology (CNT), Roorkee

Centre of Nanotechnology (CNT) was established in December, 2005 as one of the Centres of Excellence. The faculty of the centre, drawn from different departments, is involved in developing state-of-the-art facilities at the institute and is vigorously pursuing interdisciplinary research on various current aspects of nanoscience and nanotechnology

Research Areas: Life Sciences & Biotechnology, Medical Sciences, Agricultural Sciences, Chemical Sciences, Computer Sciences and Information Technology

Output & Achievements: 1. From time to time, Centre of Nanotechnology (CNT) has conducted multiple workshops, seminars and conference on nanodevices, nano-medicine, nano-materials, applications of such materials etc. CNT has also conducted hands-on-training for the formulation of smart nanodevices 2. CNT has established high end instrumentation facilities in chemistry, biotechnology, physics and in high temperature laboratory. 3. CNT has established facility for small scale mechanical tensile tester for biomaterials and Planar Tech. CVD (automated) facility., 4. Researchers at CNT have achieved academic excellence and have received outstanding awards both at national and international levels. Dr. P. Gopinath received “Bharat Jyoti Award” in a seminar on “Economic growth and National Integration” at New Delhi on 29th August 2012. 5. Dr. P. Gopinath also got shortlisted by the American Biographical Institute for “Great Minds of the 21st Century and Dr. Debrupa Lahiri, joint faculty of MMED and CNT recieved "Zwick Science Award 2014" known as one of the most prestigious award for the publication in the field of material testing as ground breaking research
