IN239128: A process for the concentration of garcinia extract

The invention relates to a process for the concentration of Garcinia extract. In the process osmotic membrane distillation (OMD) has been used. Rinds of a fruit selected from Garcinia sp, such as G. pedunculata and G.cowa have been used. This is a simple and single step process for obtaining the concentrated free Hydrocitric acid.This concentrated Garcinia extract is in its native form without being any of its derivatives like sodium, potassium and calcium salts and hence it will have better bioavailability. The product does not undergo any thermal damage and is suitable for food/therapeutic applications.
