Executive Summary : | Bihar, an economically underdeveloped state, faces challenges such as lack of scientific awareness, threats to livelihoods and health, and sustainability. To address these issues, a unique model of science communication intervention is proposed. This involves training teachers with low-cost teaching aids and facilitating interactive demonstrations for hands-on science activities and environmental awareness. The project aims to develop logical scientific attitudes among students and their families, contributing to NCSTC goals by instilling scientific temper and problem-solving abilities. The program focuses on learning by doing and promoting science and environment awareness through capacity building of teachers. The project is based on a compilation of low-cost kits developed by teachers covering various learning domains, such as biodiversity, flora and fauna, water, soil, air, skywatch, terrarium, aquarium, eco sanctuary, and restoration of degraded ecosystems. The project will organize workshops in two districts, Madhubani and Patna, Bihar, to develop teachers' capacity and stimulate interest in science through low-cost teaching aids. |
