Executive Summary : | The project aims to investigate the microstructure of idols, coins, and ornaments using in-situ metallography and X-ray fluorescence analysis. Non-destructive methods such as ultrasonic and radiography will be used to evaluate the quality of these monuments. Samples will be obtained from monuments with permission from custodians like ASI and private organizations. The project will also visit Agarias, local tribes in Madhya Pradesh, to understand their iron-making process and optimize practices. Microstructural and texture analysis will be performed to understand degradation behavior with age. In-situ X-ray fluorescence analysis will be performed at the site, providing insights into the fabrication process. Non-destructive methods like ultrasonic testing and gamma-ray radiography will be used to examine the quality of the monuments. The project will also visit Agarias to understand their iron-making practices and suggest necessary changes. The main issues are to characterize traditional monuments in the Malwa region and understand their metallurgical origins. |
