Executive Summary : | The project aims to develop indigenously developed non-oxide ceramic filament manufacturing technologies for functional and strategic applications. It includes a non-oxide ceramic filament spinning unit, which addresses commercial restrictions and offers high-quality filaments at competitive prices. The project also aims to design a high-throughput ceramic fiber mat manufacturing setup, provide enhanced user flexibility, and test and validate in-house developed filaments and fiber mats for high-temperature and functional applications. The project also seeks to develop a non-oxide ceramic fiber mat spinning unit, extending the lab-scale centrifugal spinning unit with a TRL-9 to an industrial mode of operation. The unit will incorporate sophisticated functionalities to ensure high pure product quality, including high vacuum and environmental chambers. The project will also produce complex morphologies like hollow and core shell fibers that can be easily tunable with simple changes to the spinneret design. The project will bring to the fore the huge commercial prospects in the Indian context of centrifugal spinning non-oxide ceramic fibers. The project will involve the development of a pilot-scale prototype, an environmental chamber integrated centrifugal spinning unit, and testing and validation of in-house developed non-oxide ceramic filaments and fiber mats for high-temperature and functional applications. |
