Executive Summary : | Magnetic skyrmions are topologically protected spin textures with whirling configurations, characterized by their finite topological winding number, extraordinary stability, and long life time. They are controlled by exchange coupling, Dzyaloshinskii-Moriya (DM) interaction, and Zeeman energy from the applied field. This controllable nucleation and motion of skyrmions in magnetic nanostructures are essential for future skyrmion spintronic devices and logic applications. This project aims to propose and investigate skyrmion dynamics in different constricted ferromagnetic nanostructures. The study will focus on the geometrical and material parameters of a spin valve structure, the skyrmion magnonic crystal based on a perpendicularly magnetized metal or ultra-thin ferromagnet bilayer waveguide, and the effects of magnetic interface coupling and anisotropy on switching dynamics. The project will also investigate high sensitivity based on magnonic sensors for measuring weak magnetic fields at room temperature, focusing on surface modulation, band structure, and magnetic field sensing capacity. The project aims to contribute to the emerging field of magnetic skyrmions and contribute to the body of knowledge in this emerging field. |
