Executive Summary : | It is known from the earlier research that periodic forcing in a hydrodynamic system creates waves with frequency equal to or half that of the forcing frequency. If the forcing is applied in presence of magnetic field within Rayleigh-B ́enard geometry the dynamics at the onset of convection is determined by the parameters like Rayleigh number (Ra), Prandtl number (Pr), magnetic Prandtl number (Pm), forcing amplitudes, fundamental forcing frequency etc. The objective of this project is to study the effect of gravity modulation and temperature modulation together in Rayleigh-Benard magnetoconvection. We shall explore the role of various controlling parameters in determining the nature of waves. The value of critical Rayleigh number and the corresponding wave number will be investigated by changing the parameters. Finally, a low-dimensional model will be constructed at the onset of convection. The nonlinear dynamics of the model will be studied in detail. |
