Objective: To provide recognition to outstanding research done for the improvement of tribal farming systems. To provide incentives for outstanding research aimed at improving the tribal farming systems.

Criteria: All agricultural scientists located in tribal areas of the country and engaged in applied research and its application aimed at improving the productivity profitability and sustainability or tribal systems are eligible. The terminal phase of the research work including field validation of the research results must have been undertaken during the five years preceding the award.
