Fellowships & Scholarships
A certain number of Research Associateships (RA-ships) are awarded each year directly by CSIR to young research workers who have shown promise in original research and propose to pursue research work in science, engineering, medicine or technology on specific projects. The Associate will do full time research work on problems stated in his/her application and approved by CSIR.
Eligibility: Candidates with PhD (in a science or engineering subject) or MD/MS/MDS (medical science) or ME/MTech/MPharm/MVSc with 3 years R&D experience are eligible to apply. PhD (science/engineering) thesis submitted are also eligible subject to their being awarded PhD degree before the expiry of the validity of the award offer. The applicant must have at least 1 research publication in standard refereed journal as notified. The fellows are selected on the basis of their C.V. and performance in the interview. The upper age limit for applying is 35 yrs, relaxable up to 5 yrs in the case of SC/ST/OBC, physically handicapped and women applicants.
Fellowship amount: Each fellow is entitled to a monthly stipend in the range of Rs. 36,000-40,000/- plus House Rent Allowance (HRA) as per norms. An annual contingency grant of Rs. 20,000/- is also provided. RA-ships will be tenable initially for a period of 1 year, extendable depending upon the progress of the research as evaluated by the competent authorities. The total tenure of RA is 3 yrs including the tenure of associateship awarded by UGC/DST/ICMR/ICAR etc.
