Executive Summary :

With the popularity of multimedia services among mobile users, the data traffic demand over Beyond fifth generation (5G) networks is expected to increase incessantly. Network operators utilise the caching ability of both the base stations and user devices to reduce the data traffic and cope with the massive number of connected devices, thereby giving rise to the so-called in-network caching. Due to the enormous infrastructure size and business opportunity of in-network caching, the involvement of various stockholders, such as network operators, storage providers, and users become inevitable. Strong coalition and cooperation among the multiple stockholders are required for efficient content delivery in Beyond 5G networks. However, in general, the stockholders are self-centric and unwilling to allocate their available resources for the desired operation of the Beyond 5G networks. Further, the energy consumption of these networks is a major concern, as it can lead to increased operational costs and carbon footprint. To address this challenge, this project aims to develop an energy-efficient cooperative content delivery system for beyond 5G networks. Specifically, the proposed system will employ advanced technologies such as edge caching, machine learning, and cooperative networking to optimize the energy consumption of the beyond 5G network.
