Executive Summary : | This proposal aims to fundamentally alter the healthcare delivery for diabetic patients, especially in resource challenged environments such as urban and rural poor. This will be achieved through field deployment of a revolutionary point of care diagnostic device developed at IISc and productized through PathShodh healthcare, a start-up incubated at IISc. Going beyond glucose measurement, HbA1c and Glycated albumin testing using disposable strips on the diagnostic device, will enable better assessment of glycemic index and treatment plan. In particular Glycated albumin will be established as a better marker for diabetic nephropathy. Simultaneous measurement of Hb and Serum albumin, along with continuous tracking of dietary pattern, will also be utilized to assess the correlation between nutrition index and diabetes treatment outcome. The outcome of this project will serve as a basis to deploy this diagnostic device across the country in every PHC, CHC and other community care settings. |
