Executive Summary :

Plants having higher phenotypic plasticity can have an advantage over plants with low plasticity under stress environments. Through this study, efforts would be given to delineate mechanistic understanding of rice adaption to this stress combination. A contrasting set of rice genotypes (~10to 20) would be selected and categorized as low, medium and high level of phenotypic plasticity based on previous phenotypic data. This study would also explore the effect of variability in phenotypic plasticity on adaptation under conflicting but most obvious combination of heat and drought stress.
