Executive Summary : | The bilateral project aims to synthesize and investigate high-quality functionalized iron oxide-based nanoparticles with a magnetic vortex ground state for in-vivo hyperthermia applications. The research will focus on selecting nanoparticles with improved heating efficiency and characterizations using various techniques. The project will connect two complementary research groups, physicists from Central University of Punjab, India, and chemists from Jozef Stefan Institute, Slovenia. The Indian partner will transfer knowledge in synthesis of vortex nanoparticles, while the Slovenian partner will focus on functionalization and colloidal suspension preparation. The project will strengthen scientific research cooperation between Slovenia and India, increase mobility of Slovenian and top Indian researchers, and provide a unique opportunity for graduate students to conduct multi-disciplinary research on new nanomaterials. It will also improve the scientific and technological capacity of research on magnetic nanoparticles for thermal therapy and increase the number of applications from Slovenian and Indian researchers. |
