Executive Summary :

Cytogenetics is a crucial modern tool in research, particularly in medical diagnostics. Investigating faunal identification in northeast India is essential for researchers, particularly in Mizoram state. Establishing fundamental chromosome numbers is crucial for validating existing species, and this proposal focuses on the state's amphibian species. The proposal aims to describe karyotypic details of these species to determine their taxonomic relationships. This early chromosomal investigation will pave the way for future cytogenetic and molecular research. Extended molecular investigations will help determine the taxonomic status of specimen populations and study the species and subspecies in the state. Cytogenetic research on India's Anuran fauna is insignificant, and Amphibians in northeast India are still unknown to cytogenetics. This gap must be filled through chromosomal analysis, starting with Amphibians.
