Executive Summary : | To Identify the resistance sources of aphid in wheat from wide range of wheat varieties and ancestral species, evaluation of botanicals and biopesticides against major insect- pests of wheat
To study the insect-pest dynamics in wheat crop grown under different tillage practices and development of strategies for their management, assessment of losses caused by major storage insect-pests, impact on grain and flour quality, and their management through grain protectants |
Co-PI: | Dr. Raj Kumar, Scientist, Indian Institute of Wheat and Barley Research (IIWBR), Karnal |
Achievements : | A total of 430 wheat varieties were tested to determine the resistance levels against foliar aphid complex; The two aphid species were recorded; Amongst 58 durum wheat genotypes, 10 were categorized as moderately resistant, 22 were susceptible while 26 were highly susceptible under challenged conditions.Out 344 aestivum wheat genotypes, 22 were categorized as moderately resistant, 62 were susceptible while 260 were highly susceptible under challenged conditions; The insect pest incidence among different tillage conditions was recorded; Wheat and barley genotypes are being evaluated |
