Executive Summary :

The project aims to develop a science communication module focused on sustainable development, specifically energy, water, and environment, for ST students in 15 schools in North Tripura and Gomati districts of Tripura. The module will be conducted through hands-on activities, pictures, and charts, aiming to make the concepts understandable to students in hilly areas of Tripura. Feedback will be collected from all relevant stakeholders, and the module will be run in 15 schools over 12 months. The project's timelines include developing the audio-video module, planning hands-on activities, collecting feedback from experts, conducting demonstrations in 15 schools, documenting the project, and submitting the results to the Department of Science and Technology (DST). The project is directly relevant to the NCSTC mandate, as it aims to scientifically communicate the concepts of energy, water, and environmental conservation techniques to students, encouraging them to adopt science and technology as a way of life. The targeted area is hilly areas with limited access to modern urban facilities, and the project aims to make the targeted beneficiaries aware of sustainability solutions. This will inspire ST students to adopt sustainability-promoting technologies and pursue careers in sustainability. Even after funding stops, the beneficiaries will retain knowledge and act as change agents, propagating the goals of sustainable development through the dissemination of energy, water, and environmental conservation techniques. The project will cover 15 schools for awareness and demonstration initiatives, ultimately promoting sustainability options and sustainable development. The target group is primarily 6th-10th grade ST students, primarily from Government and Non-Government schools, as they can appreciate the concepts better. Direct beneficiaries will be around 1,000 students in 15 government and non-government schools, while indirect beneficiaries will be 3,000 persons. The project has several salient features that make it suitable for children-centric outreach programs. It aims to promote sustainable development concepts, energy, water, and environmental conservation techniques among ST students in hilly areas, contributing to the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals and contributing to India's commitment to sustainable development.
