Executive Summary : | Rydberg blockade has been demonstrated for an ensemble of ultra-cold atoms. The idea of using the cold atoms for Study of Rydberg blockade is that the atoms are frozen during the excitation process and hence the dephasing induced by the relative motion of the atoms can be neglected. So, the dephasing of the super-atom (entangled many body quantum state) is negligible which is necessary for the enhancement for the optical nonlinearity in the system. |
