Brief Description
Description : | The CIMAP herbal cough syrup is based on tridosha concept of Ayurveda. The composition of cough syrup balances the Vataj-Kaphaj dosha and suppresses the symptoms associated with cough. Thereby it is effective against allergic cough and bronchospasm. The mechanism is based on the in vivo experimental study by analyzing anti-allergic effect and hence, herbal cough syrup reduces the production of histamines that are responsible for a variety of physiologic responses, such as inflammation and type-I allergy. Moreover, it reduces throat inflammation and prevents dryness of mouth and cracking of voice by toning the vocal cord. An intermediate stability testing was carried out as per the ICH guidelines (CPMP/ICH/2736/99). Formulation is tested for its efficacy and safety in small animal model, the results obtained clearly indicated its efficacy in mast cell mediated allergic response.
* Importantly, developed herbal cough syrup is scientifically validated and alcohol free. For instance allopathic cough syrups contain 1st-generation antihistamines, like diphenhydramine and doxylamine succinate, which are unable to differentiate histamine receptors they block. They can cross the blood-brain barrier and inhibit functions of histamines and play role in regulation ofsleep and wakefulness. This disruption of the action of histamines in the brain results in drowsiness as well as intoxication (in case of abuse). |
