Brief Description
Description : | A viable indigenous technology has been developed to reduce the ash content to ~10% from high ash medium coking ,low volatile coking coal, high ash non-coking coal as well as washery tailings by combination of physical/chemical and biological processes. It has been observed that if feed ash is less than 30%, it is easily possible to achieve 10% ash coal with reasonable yield by physical beneficiation either coking or non-coking coal at coarser as well as finer sizes. The quality of the coal indicates that it can be used for metallurgical purposes even in blast furnace injections. The carbon value can be recovered from coal washery slimes by flotation process to achieve less than 10% ash coal. A 2 million tonne per annum capacity of coal washery to achieve 10% ash coal the backup period is 3 years. |
