Details
Executive Summary : | The study proposes a novel approach to indoor navigation and mapping, combining millimeter-wave sensors with navigation algorithms. These sensors, operating in the 30 to 300 GHz frequency range, capture high-resolution data about the environment. They emit and receive electromagnetic waves, measuring the time it takes for waves to bounce back after hitting objects. The collected data is used to create an indoor map, which can be used for accurate positioning and localization of individuals or objects. The system can be applied in large indoor venues, industrial settings, and during calamities. Benefits include high accuracy, non-line-of-sight capability, and robustness. However, the challenge lies in developing efficient geospatial algorithms to extract navigation and mapping information from the 3D point-clouds generated through mmWave sensing. |
