Executive Summary :

Combination treatment is a growing area of interest for researchers in other countries, as it can effectively destroy cancer by combining multiple therapeutic approaches. Multifunctional targeted drug delivery systems have been extensively investigated as potential cancer therapy options, with positive findings in pre-clinical animal tests. Antiglycolytic effect and synergistic phototherapy with highly targeted singlet oxygen delivery have shown potential to increase treatment efficacy and reduce adverse effects. The main objective of this proposal is to develop a targeted nano-delivery system made of natural melanin, loaded with a naphthalene-based Iridium complex endoperoxide for singlet oxygen delivery and co-loaded with an antiglycolytic agent to reduce ATP production and enhance therapeutic outcomes.
