Executive Summary : | Control co-design (i.e., integrated plant and control design) means simultaneously optimizing plant parameter (for example shape, weight etc of plant) and its control policy which leads to a plant with superior performance resulting material and energy savings. Control co-design of lumped parameter systems i.e., systems whose dynamics is governed by ordinary differential equations is a well developed area. However control co-design of distributed parameter systems whose dynamics is governed by partial differential equations has very few works in the literature. The objective of this research is develop a novel mathematical model in the form of multi-objective optimization problem for co-design of distributed parameter systems. Researchers will also develop a solution procedure to solve the control co-design optimization problem for distributed parameter systems. with rigorous guarantees on stability, convergence in finite time and optimality of computed control co-design solution. This will help understand fundamental mathematical and practical issues related to control co-design of distributed parameter systems related to stability and computation procedures. |
