Executive Summary :

The project aims to study the cooperative effects in SCO-based nanostructures, specifically single-component SCO and magnetic 1-D nanoscale molecule-based coordination polymers. It also focuses on the synthesis and design of compositionally tuned Hofmann-network-based SCO coordination nanostructures, their light-induced cooperative variation at different temperatures, and the effects of the environment, surface, and interface on the electronic/magnetic switchability. The project also aims to investigate the interplay between SCO and luminescence at the nanoscale, focusing on the size reduction limit of cooperativity, the interplay between SCO and luminescence, and the interparticle energy transfer mechanism. The project will establish a new method for synthesizing nanoparticles using block copolymer micelles, demonstrating their tunable size and shape, and their stability. The project will also identify key parameters for successful coupling of luminescence and spin state switching for lanthanide-based luminescence sensors. The collaboration between the two universities will be strengthened through joint research results, lectures, talks, and student exchange.
