Executive Summary : | The project aims to organize science outreach activities in Palampur, a hill station and newly formed municipal corporation in the Kangra Valley, India. The project aims to organize exhibitions, science essay competitions, and interactive sessions with experts from the science field. The project will be conducted in English and Hindi, with a duration of six months from July 2022 to December 2022.
Palampur is a hill district with limited exposure to technological advancements and innovative approaches among students, particularly government school students. The team has conducted interviews with faculty and students in the area, observing that students are interested in learning about scientific temper, new spheres of technology, basic science experiments, and government schemes and activities.
The team has designed a workshop to facilitate interaction between experts and students, aiming to motivate and educate them about science and technology advancements and basic science techniques. They have also planned to distribute science kits to students from rural districts and SC/ST categories, as many cannot afford them.
The project targets 2000 direct beneficiaries and 15600 indirect beneficiaries, aiming to ignite a budding scientist from rural and hilly areas of India. The total cost for the project is 3067300, with a non-recurring capital cost of 00000000/-. |
