As the world celebrates rapid digitalization and hackers look at opportunities that this celebration offers, Ranjan Bose & his team find ways to keep tab on the latter in their quiet corner at IIT Delhi.

Is searching for ways to prevent, detect, defend and recover data from possible attacks on Internet of Things devices. Internet of things (IoT) is the network of physical objects includes devices, vehicles, buildings and other items embedded with electronics, software, sensors, and network connectivity that enable these objects to collect and exchange data. One of their major focus areas is smart buildings which have a large attach surface.
The world woke up to the significance of internet security issues during the attack of Mirai Botnet which turned internet of things into a Botnet of things.
IoT Security applications include health care, smart cities, Data Driven Agriculture, Autonomous Vehicles
The team which is striving to find ways to secure the internet aims to set up a Joint Research Laboratory (JLR) at IIT Delhi (JRL-IITD) and at Kyushu University (JRL-KU). At the end of ten years, the JLRs would expand to form Joint Research Hubs.
The researchers will create a generic test-bed for IoT security. They will also hold workshops and training programs for Government Agencies, Industries and teaching professionals, Short Term courses for Schools for Cyber Hygiene, certification and hands-on Training based on Cyber Range with IoT devices.
