Details
Executive Summary : | We plan to indigenously develop a macroencapsulation device for cellular therapy, especially islet transplantation in the management of uncontrolled diabetes. The basic aim is to use allogenic or xenogeneic cells in a macroencapsulation device in which, the cells secrete the required proteins without being affected by host immune cells attacking them. The porous chamber should allow the smaller protein molecules to pass out and nutrients like glucose, amino acids to pass in; but should not let the bigger immune cells to enter into the device. |
