TDB supports Indigenous manufacturing of receiver modules for ISRO’s navigation app
Providing a fillip to the indigenous production of the components that find use in the satellite based technology, Technology Development Board (TDB), has supported the development and manufacturing of “receiver modules” that are essential for running the mobile application NavIC, the one developed by Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO) to provide navigation support to India and 1,500 km around it.
The bulk manufacturing of the receiver modules would help establish the nation as a global hub for electronics system design and production besides giving a push to the Atmanirbharta or self-reliance that nation has embarked upon under the aegis of honourable Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi.
TDB, a statutory body of Department of Science & Technology, GOI, has approved financial support to Hyderabad based Manjeera Digital Systems Private Limited (MDS), a digital signal processing, research and development company.
These receiver modules will be essential in receiving signals from IRNSS (Indian Regional Navigation Satellite System) or NavIC, process it and send to the end user applications such as vehicle tracking system and others.
The company has also designed and fabricated a baseband processor using the patented Universal Multifunctional Accelerator (UMA). This UMA can be used in generic Digital Signal Processing applications such as Server Acceleration, Edge Computing, Node Computing, Computer Vision, Signal Processing, etc.
