Executive Summary :

Thermoelectric materials are used for converting thermal energy into electricity, refrigeration, and heating, saving fuel and increasing reliability in everyday applications like automotive generators and power spacecraft. They are solid-state devices without moving parts, making them more efficient. Researchers are exploring oxide materials with high zT and low thermal conductivity over a wide temperature range, and magnetic thermoelectric materials. Combining thermoelectric and caloric properties in a single-phase compound can lead to new functional materials.
