Executive Summary :

The DST Centre of Excellence in Climate Modeling at Indian Institute of Technology Delhi is developing a customized climate model framework for the country. The framework, developed by customizing the NCAR Community Earth System Model, has shown promising results in simulating key climate parameters like precipitation, temperature, and large-scale circulation. The next phase of the CoE will involve a multi-pronged approach, involving traditional and emerging techniques of model development and improvement. The next generation ICCMF will be used for generating microclimatic information for urban and industrial planning, and for optimizing climate policies and impact assessments. To ensure sustainability, capacity will be built and human resources will be developed with specialized knowledge of climate modeling and climate information in the Indian context.
