Executive Summary :

The proposal aims to build resilience in communities by implementing GIS mapping and geotagging of migrant laborers in Odisha, identifying their skill levels, examining their skill gap, delivering employable training modules, and creating entrepreneurship. The project will use quantitative and qualitative techniques, including surveys, focus group discussions, and case studies, to examine inter-state labor migration patterns and target groups.

The project proposes GIS mapping and geo-tagging of labour returnees in Odisha, focusing on the Balangir district. Around 20 lakh Odias are working in various sectors, with COVID-19 causing a significant number of migrants. The project addresses these issues by utilizing crusher dust to manufacture construction grade bricks, a solar SMART drip irrigation system for farmers, and capacity building in handicrafts products. The project also aims to provide training in LED bulb making, electrician and plumbing, and other sectors.
