Executive Summary :

The project aims to develop KAFOs using a machine learning-based approach to minimize external and internal risks. It involves collecting data on patients' 3D surfaces, developing a machine learning model, assessing the mechanical/structural behavior of the designed configurations, considering electromechanical solutions, extracting suitable plastic materials from environmental waste, and constructing prototypes using additive manufacturing techniques. The project aims to improve the effectiveness and comfort of KAFOs while reducing costs and improving biodegradability. The main criteria for developing novel KAFOs include improving the effectiveness and comfort of the model without losing structural stability. The project will also focus on new materials and manufacturing processes, such as 3D printing, to achieve different configurations. The project will contribute to making KAFOs accessible to people in need, empowering them and reducing costs associated with non-addressed health needs.
