Executive Summary :

The millet crop, a crucial food and fodder crop in semi-arid regions, has seen a decline in production due to factors such as droughts, climate change, and land degradation. However, these crops are climate-hardy and drought-tolerant, requiring minimal chemical supplements and pesticides. A project aims to document agricultural and post-harvest practices of millet farmers to reduce drudgery and improve productivity. The project will also document millet-based recipes and cooking practices for various groups, including children, adults, nursing and pregnant women, and elderly and sick persons. The project will also analyze factors for loss of area for millet cultivation and highlight areas of drudgery, inefficiency, innovation, and novelty for experts to consider. The findings will be shared with experts and the Department of Science Technology, New Delhi.
