Executive Summary :

Heritage conservation and protection are crucial for our community's pride and future generations. Forts and palaces are popular tourist attractions in Mewar Udaipur Hadoti Kota-Bundi-Jhalawar, India. However, no comprehensive study exists for these structures. This project aims to evaluate the condition assessment and structural health monitoring of heritage structures using non-destructive techniques. The study will determine the strengths of heritage structures, identify factors deteriorating them, and apply detailed structural health monitoring techniques. The project will also propose sustainable restoration techniques and design guidelines for heritage structures.

The study of heritage structures involves a methodology that includes an assessment of historic archives, educational material, architectural designs, and technical reports. The second stage involves a detailed on-site inspection of the buildings using nondestructive techniques like Schmidt hammer rebound tests, ultrasonic pulse velocity tests, ground penetration radar tests, and carbonation tests. The preservation state of the building is also investigated, and the structural system is assessed using a three-dimensional finite element model. The study also considers the degradation of mortars and plasters, which are often neglected.
