Executive Summary :

The proposal aims to develop a prototype for power generation from co-gasification of coal and agro-residues in North-East India. The process involves gasification, fractional distillation, and grounding of raw materials. The coal will be collected from a nearby coal field, and the agro-residues will be collected from food processing mills. The mixture will be mixed in various ratios, and the pellets will be fed to the gasifier. The gas will be processed using a fractional distillation process. The proposed prototype will be used for liquid fuel production and compared with other metal-based catalysts. Thermochemical conversion processes offer the promise of effectively utilizing all biomass and fossil fuels. The gasification process is essential for producing alternative liquid fuels using thermo-chemical technologies. The proposal aims to develop an indigenous prototype for power production and fuel generation, reducing waste and maximizing profit for stakeholders. The location of CSIR-NEIST in Jorhat, Assam, offers easy access to raw materials and reduces transportation and storage costs.
