Executive Summary : | Yoga has gained significant research attention in recent years, but its focus on mental health promotion has been limited. Current yoga-based intervention programs often overlook the psychological aspects of yoga, such as beliefs, cognitions, emotions, and life choices. This project proposal aims to develop an indigenous promotive mental health intervention based on yogic psychological concepts to improve mental health and well-being in adults. The study will develop an online promotive mental health module, tested with community adults, and compare their mental health and well-being before and after completion. The study will also document the socio-demographic details of volunteering adults, their feedback about the program, and associated challenges to engage with it. The study will also explore barriers to good mental health, as discussed in yogic psychology. The study will use a single group pre-post, quasi-experimental design, with a sample of adults above 18 years old. The intervention model will include didactic-informational components, activities, reflections, and meditations. The study will follow a one-month follow-up with participants, analyzing the data and documentation of the results. |
