Executive Summary :

The project aims to design and develop an Integrated System for Steel Powder Synthesis using Plasma Assisted Atomization Method for an Indigenously developed Metal 3D Printer using Selective LASER Sintering SLS Technique. The system will optimize parameters for metal rapid prototyping and powder characterization. The experimental setup includes X-Y-Z Movement Mechanisms, precise electronic setup, CO2 LASER installation, integration, and synchronization, and a closed chamber for inert atmosphere. The machine is equipped with a mechanical system with X-Y-Z Movement Mechanism and a 200 watt CO2 LASER. The project also aims to design an experimental setup for synthesis of steel metal powder using plasma assisted atomization and investigate parameters governing manufacturing. The process involves a plasma source heating the raw material and a jet of pressurized gas as an atomizing agent. The quality of printed parts will be assessed through surface roughness, geometrical accuracy, mechanical strength, and homogeneity.
