Executive Summary :

The proposed study aims to provide an integrated approach combining field, remote sensing and modelling is desined in this project and proposed on Durung Drung Glacier which is the largest glacier in the Zanskar Basin, where our knowledge about climate-glaciers inter-linkages is yet not developed. The collected meteorological data will also be used to validate /calibrate gridded and remote sensing-based avaialble meterorolgical datasets such as IMD, ERA5, APHRODITE, NCEP HRA, CRU TRMM,etc. The proposed project at glacier scale will lay down a foundation for future glacio- hydrological modelling at basin scale.
