Realtime Ambient Source Apportionment of Gases and Aerosol for Mitigation (RASAGAM) by Indian Institute of Science Educatiion and Research (IISER), Mohali, Punjab.

Area of research :

Earth, Atmosphere & Environment Sciences

Focus area :

Atmospheric Science

Principal Investigator :

Dr. Vinayak Sinha Department of Earth and Environmental Sciences Indian Institute of Science Education and Research (IISER) Mohali, Punjab, Sector 81, S A S Nagar, Manauli PO Punjab 140306

Timeline Start Year :

2021

Details

Executive Summary :

The project is to measure different chemical constituents in atmospheric aerosols and gases at New Delhi to understand the processes governing gas to aerosol chemical transformations. The observational database will help to improve the understanding of chemical processes occurring in the aerosol aqueous phase and the interface between the gas phase and the aerosol. The quantitative source apportionment of air pollutants using online high temporal resolution measurements of both gases and particles may contribute to improved understanding of both basic atmospheric chemistry processes and their representation in numerical model and to generate strategic knowledge required for smart mitigation interventions.
