Executive Summary : | The project aims to develop a diagnostic test system for Hemorrhagic fever with renal syndrome (HFRS), a common viral disease in India. The project involves the design of nucleocapsid and glycoprotein peptides containing immunodominant epitopes against Haantan HTNV, Thailand virus THAIV, and Puumala PUUV orthohantaviruses. The project also aims to diagnose orthohantavirus infection in patients with acute febrile illness, develop an artificial intelligence algorithm for epitope analysis, evaluate peptide-specific immune response in human samples, and design peptides HTNV, THAIV, and PUUV-based serological assays to detect multiple serotypes. The collaboration between the Russian and Indian teams provides an opportunity to develop serological tests detecting antibodies to unique orthoghantaviruses circulating in Tatarstan, Russia, and India. The study will further advance our understanding of orthohantavirus immunogenicity and help identify unique and cross-reacting epitopes. The collaboration between the Russian and Indian teams will also allow further exploration of immunologic cross reactivity between PUUV, HNTV, and THAIV orthohantaviruses in Russian HFRS serum and T cells. |
