Executive Summary :

The research proposal focuses on developing novel solid-state materials for next-generation hydrogen storage technologies. Current hydrogen storage systems, which can only store hydrogen up to 2-3 wt% at high pressure and low-temperature conditions, have not been widely commercialized due to high fabrication and design costs. The proposal aims to develop high energy density hydrogen storage materials with high gravimetric and volumetric capacity using 2D MXenes, Pd-MXene, MXenes/graphene oxide, and MXenes/metal hydrides composites. The project aims to develop a cost-effective method for large-scale production of MXenes/graphene composites for high-end hydrogen storage and a green, simple, and cost-effective method for large-scale production of graphene oxide. The goal is to explore the design and development of a working prototype module using the optimized material, requiring endorsement from relevant industrial partners.
